Do you have a genuine emergency? If so call this number:
Our experienced and dedicated equine only veterinary team provides 24-hour emergency cover, 365 days a year.
In the event of an emergency, when you believe your horse may require treatment, please call the office on 01442 851921. Out of hours, your call will be diverted to the veterinary surgeon on call. Please call the practice even if you are unsure of the urgency of the situation; the veterinary surgeons are always on hand to advise and assist you. Please make sure you have clear directions available to where your horse is. If you are on a livery yard, it can be helpful to have our contact details and your yard postcode on a sheet outside your horse’s stable door. It is also helpful to have your contact details on this sheet in case you are not present when your horse is seen.
All of our vets carry equipment to deal with a huge range of emergencies, from colics to foalings and from wounds to fractures. We are all experienced and fully trained to deal with a variety of equine emergencies, in addition to holding casualty management certificates for both racecourse work and in dealing with the emergency services. Occasionally, for example in the event of a surgical colic, the vet may feel it advisable to refer your horse to one of the referral equine veterinary hospitals in the area, all of whom we have close links with.
