We fully admit that having Strangles on a yard can be stressful for both horses and owners – this does not need to be the case.
At Farr and Pursey we recognise that communication of exactly what is happening , how the condition is being managed and what the implications are for each owner is imperative. Therefore we have put a series of documents on this page to explain what we implement when Strangles presents itself. We base all of our protocols on the Animal Health Trust’s advice. Sadly the Animal Health Trust is no longer with us, however the protocols are still very much valid. Furthermore, at the initial presentation of the condition we will insist that we come onto the yard to give a yard talk to all owners on how our protocols will be implemented, in addition to being open and honest about all results which helps to alleviate any concerns about how the condition is being managed.
