The Ability of Low Intensity Pulsed Ultrasound (LIPUS) to Treat Animal Tendon, Ligament and Fracture Injuries
Ultrasound has been a part of the equine vet’s armoury for a number of years and the term covers a wide range of applications that use different wavelengths and intensities.
A recent development which takes advantage of the natural response to mechanical stress in promoting the remodelling of the collagen fibres is Low Intensity Pulsed Ultrasound (LIPUS).
SONIVET generates these specific low intensity ultrasound signals that has been proven to accelerate the healing of tendon and ligament injuries enabling an earlier return to normal activity, while also reducing re-injury rates. Sonivet is non-invasive, battery operated and is applied applying the device to the injury for 20 minutes each day for approximately 30 days.
